The Secret History of Women in Coding Spread

This project involved creating a magazine spread for a New York Times article. I chose The Secret History of Women in Coding, as I've always enjoyed learning about how women were involved in the development of technology within different STEM fields.

My goal for these spreads was to convey a connection to technology, specifically coding, and maybe tie into the idea of keeping a secret, as the title says. I created a few different tool kits, but ended up deciding on these green glitch bars across images, both disguising the picture (keeping it secret) and relating to programming through the pixelation. The title spread was also designed with programming in mind, as I intended for it to look like the display of a piece of coding software, with lowercase letters and white on black text. I used the same treatment for my pull quotes in order to relate them back to the title spread and remind the reader of the technological theme.
